Last Thursday 15 second semesters students from the Communication and Mediamanagement (CMM) and Journalism and Business Communication (JBC) courses visited the RTL Mediengruppe Deutschland, the news editorial office "RTL Aktuell", the WDR Cologne and the radio station "1Live" as part of the event „Content Production in TV and Radio“.
The aim was to deepen the students‘ theoretical knowledge and gain practical experience. Additionally, they had the change to discuss with experts in the industry and to ask them questions.
Organized by Prof. Dr. Christine Piepiorka and Prof. Dr. Stefan Lennardt, the excursion started early in the morning from the Iserlohn campus to the media group RTL in Cologne. The students took part in an RTL studio tour and the editorial conference of "RTL Aktuell" . They were able to exchange ideas with the popular presenter Peter Klöppel and the editor-in-chief Gerhard Kohlenbach on topics such as prioritizing news topics, digitization and talk about the career of the two journalists.
They then went on to WDR Cologne, where the students were given a guided tour through the studios of "Sportschau", "Hart aber fair" and the WDR radio play.
During the guided tour through the "1Live-Haus", the participants were able to gain insights into the editorial staff and radio studios of the radio station "1Live". The visit was rounded off by a discussion with the head of entertainment Ulrich Krapp about the organization of the editorship, the effects of the digitization and the continued existence of the radio.
