What behaviour do I have to consider in connection with my studies at the UE?

General behavior when coughing, sneezing / hand hygiene
Comparable to preventive measures against influenza, it is important to follow the cough and sneeze etiquette and good hand hygiene in order to protect yourself and others from infection with the corona virus. Please note the general information on campus. In addition, the Federal Center for Health Education (BZgA) at www.infektionsschutz.de offers good information in various languages on washing hands and on how to cough and sneeze. This includes:

  • Wash hands regularly and thoroughly with (liquid) soap, especially before eating, before using medication and cosmetics and after coming home, contact with the sick, rinsing your nose, coughing, sneezing and after using the toilet.
  • When coughing or sneezing, keep a distance of one to two meters from other people and turn away. Use a disposable handkerchief that is disposed of after being used only once in a trash can (ideally with a lid).
  • If you don't have a handkerchief at hand, cough or sneeze in the crook of your arm and turn away from other people.

Self quarantine
If you have cold symptoms or suspect that you are infected with Corona, do not come to the campus and do not meet with your fellow students, for example within learning groups. In these cases, observe the requirements for the further behavior of the RKI - Robert Koch Institute.

If you have been in one of the crisis regions officially listed by the RKI in the past three weeks, please go to self-quarantine as it was recently requested by the Federal Minister of Health Jens Spahn: https://www.bundesgesundheitsministerium.de/coronavirus.html

Of course, we will continue to monitor the situation very closely and adjust our measures immediately if necessary.

Thank you for your understanding in this new and special situation for all of us - we all wish that we stay healthy and start the new semester well.

Best regards,
The Rectorate
