Our radio studio consists of two rooms. In the front room you have the chance to prepare your show on two computers, to do research and to write your news texts. The studio is located in the back room. Here you will find everything you would find in a "real" radio studio. If the red lamp in the middle lights up, we are currently live on air on Bits.fm.
We have three seats with three microphones and computers where presenters, newscasters and guests can be seated. On the PCs you will find, among other things, the DABIS programme, which is also used by many well-known radio stations. Here you can plan your programme, add contributions, news, music and original soundtracks, record your programme and cut contributions in the associated editing programme. A broadcast would not be possible without a broadcast console. The presenter can switch the microphones on and off, play music, O-tones and contributions, as well as levelling the volume.
Our studio therefore offers you the best conditions to learn the basics of everyday radio and the professional use of the everyday tools of a radio editor.
The radio studio on the Hamburg campus offers our students a practical opportunity to try out radio in all its forms. This includes:
Practical training will be accompanied by seminars on the different ways radio is formatted including:
Teaching and support are provided by lecturers who work as active reporters and presenters at Norddeutscher Rundfunk NDR. They are assisted by the university's "radio team" who are familiar with the studio as well as students who have already completed some of their studies.
The necessary technical support (maintenance etc.) is provided by freelance NDR technicians and a team at the Iserlohn campus. This is also where the supporting association for the Campus Radio broadcasting licenses is located.
In our TV studio, programmes are produced at television level. This includes a control room and a green-screen studio as well as a well-equipped technology warehouse for the rental of mobile equipment. The TV teams learn how to use professional equipment and can produce complete programmes for broadcasts. We have technical equipment similar to the EB (Electronic Reporting) teams at major TV stations. This includes HD cameras, tripods, boom poles, LED light cases, radio microphone plugs and other accessories.
In our green screen studio, a teleprompter can be used for moderation recording. For live recordings, the backgrounds are changed with the digital image mixer and also individually designed with various contribution images and videos for the moderated contributions.
Editing takes place on several mobile editing systems with Adobe Premiere Pro. In addition, the narrator's voices are recorded directly in the studio for the dubbing of the contributions. We produce programmes from several editorial offices. The transmission contributions are radiated country widely in the cable television and are naturally also in the Mediathek of nrwision.de to find. It offers the possibility for everyone to go through all stations of the video production and to collect practical experiences before and behind the camera.
