Global University Systems acquires University of Applied Sciences Europe and HTK Academy of Design

Global University Systems has further expanded its presence in Europe with the acquisition of two Germany-based educational institutions from Laureate Education, Inc.

London, 16 April 2018 –Global University Systems B.V. (GUS) today announced the acquisition of two German institutions – the University of Applied Sciences Europe and the HTK Academy of Design – from Laureate Education, Inc.

The University of Applied Sciences Europe is a prominent state-accredited higher education provider in Germany, with three campuses in Berlin, Hamburg, and Iserlohn. Through its faculties, the University of Applied Sciences Europe offers courses in business, art and design, media and communications, as well as sports management and psychology. It combines creativity, entrepreneurship & technology under one roof on an international level – competencies which are in high demand in today’s and tomorrow’s world of work.

HTK Academy of Design, founded in Hamburg in 1987 and also based in Berlin since 2001, is Germany’s largest private vocational academy in Graphic Design and has the status of a state-accredited‚ Private Berufsfachschule’ in Hamburg and of a Ergänzungschule (supplementary school) in Berlin. HTK has trained thousands of communication designers in the key areas of Visual Communication: Advertising Design, Digital Media, Editorial Design and Illustration.

GUS has an established presence in Germany with GISMA Business School, with campuses in Berlin and Hannover. Founded by former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, GISMA has gone on to become one of only two business schools in the country to offer triple-accredited programmes (AMBA, AACSB, EQUIS) through its collaborations with leading European institutions such as Grenoble Ecole de Management, Porto Business School, SDA Bocconi, University College Dublin, The University of Law and Arden University.
